artist statement
The sculptures incorporate the romantic and whimsical nature of the landscape. They are reflections on natural forms :trees, shells, seeds and pods. Forms are simplified and abstracted to illustrate the essential shape of the natural object.
 To begin the process a stainless steel base / foundation is welded together. Then copper wire is painstakingly woven, wound, wrapped and crinkled to form the structure. Each strand of wire is individually shaped to achieve the accuracy and botanical correctness of the form. The copper patina is accelerated by the use of a number of chemicals and solutions. .
