Ulan has studied horticulture and has been an avid grower and gardener for years.  His horticultural studies have greatly inspired his tree forms and the attention to detail comes from his familiarity with his subject.

The more abstract sculptures reflect Ulan's interest in all organic forms.  He draws on shells, seed pods and plant forms for inspiration.Ulan Murray portrait

A Biology degree from the Wollongong University, informs the organic nature of the sculptures.  Over the last year Ulan has been exhibiting successfully at The Priory Gallery at Bingie and at Ivy Hill Gallery at Tanja (The Far South Coast of NSW, Australia).  Before moving to Bega Ulan lived in Mudgee and taught landscaping at the TAFE.  During that time in Mudgee Ulan established and ran a contemporary art space with four other artists.
